Growing Self-Awareness
In this episode of the Inner RAE podcast, the hosts Katie and Erin discuss the concept of growing self-awareness. They introduce the Johari window, a diagram that helps individuals understand their self-awareness in relation to what is known by themselves and others. The Johari window has four quadrants: open free area (known by self and known by others), blind area (unknown by self, but known by others), hidden area (known by self but hidden from others), and unknown area (unknown by self and others).
Katie and Erin share personal stories and insights about how different modalities, such as equine therapy, somatic therapy, and psychodrama, have helped them and their clients gain self-awareness and uncover blind spots. They emphasize the importance of seeking professional help and using external tools to explore and understand the different aspects of oneself.
The hosts also discuss the Inner RAE curriculum and how it helps people navigate their self-awareness journey, especially in the context of relationships. They mention the Anatomy of Relationship curriculum as a powerful tool for uncovering blind areas and enhancing self-awareness. They emphasize that relationships serve as potent teachers and that seeking professional help can accelerate personal growth and minimize negative impacts on relationships.
Throughout the episode, they highlight the significance of recognizing blind areas, seeking professional guidance, and using various modalities to achieve deeper self-awareness and authentic living. They also mention an upcoming Inner RAE retreat and express gratitude for the inspiration of individuals like Jennifer Perlmutter, a renowned artist who embodies the concept of expressing one's true self.
